Stuttgart, Last Stop in Germany!

Stuttgart, Germany May 29th 2008

Oh Stuttgart! We took a road trip from Munich, but of course, easy was a word NOT used for to get to the stadium… Some of us were arriving from Hamburg, where we saw the previous show, some were already in Munich and we had a meeting point. Sure enough, when five people are meeting at a certain place at a certain time something has to happen, like, gettin’ lost at the airport, not being able to find each other at the gate, cell phones not connecting, trains departures and you get the picture!

By the time we were all together in the car, we found out there was a construction on the road (I wish I was kidding) so we were not only late but we’d be so much more because of the traffic (story of my life). The thing was, we needed to pick up our tickets at the backstage table that would close any minute and we’d end up with no tickets and outside of the stadium! So, trying to keep our hopes up and with our super driver Mel ;) and Oli (the only one in the car not crazy about Bon Jovi) to calm us down!

Long story short, we got there ten minutes before the table closed, and in between parking, finding the right entrance and getting lost a couple times, we got there to find the tickets and all the backstage members already in! So off we went, to a not so good start of a show that’d turn out to be one of the best setlists ever played! Phew!

Now…I don’t know how to describe what it feels to have “Drift Away” played live to you by your most favorite band followed by Livin’on a Prayer, Livin’in Sin and Wild is he Wind. If you are a fan and have a heart beating on your chest… that was the place to be! I believe I went to Heaven and back on the "Gimme the beat boys and free my soul! I wanna get lost in your Rock and Roll and Drift Away!" If you are a fan, you have this on your Ipod from a bootleg show in the 80's! I know I do! This has been, no doubt about it, one of the best shows I’ve ever been, among the hush and the crowded golden circle, it kept on my feet the whole show and it was the perfect ending to the great country of Germany!

Hamburg, Germany!

Hamburg, Germany May 28th 2008

I guess looking at it, I can say I have followed Bon Jovi across Germany. It is the country I have traveled around the most and got to see different cities and awesome shows! Go Germany Go! We had couple days off back in Munich (our base camp) before we took off to Hamburg. In a very little shaken Lufthansa airplane, that part I remember very well.
Getting in and out of Hamburg was very easy and all organized, we went to the stadium by train and had to walk SO MUCH in this trail to get to the fan club line-up! And as we already expected, line ups and lots of sitting before the band started, I remember now that there was this Italian singer opening in Europe hahaha and by the third show we already knew her songs, so funny to have this flash of memory now!

Hamburg was a very good show, we got second row and got to see couple songs on the first row when some girls went up the stage! Far to be the greatest show in Germany, hard to beat Munich I tell ya! It was wonderful to have Joey live for the first time, Hey God, Livin’ in Sin, In These Arms and Saturday Night were the highlights for sure, totally worth the wait, the sun, the flight, I remember every time we were waiting for hours in line (I mean we didn’t have to but we wanted good seats) I would say the same thing “You know, this is the last tour I am doing this, I want arena shows with my seat waiting for me at the time of the show”, funny how it would all fade when the first note of Bon Jovi soar in the air…
Not to mention Hallelujah live for the first time, I was not crazy about this song at all until I heard it sung by Jon live, the high notes, his moves, the way he moves in you with this song is something that gotta be witnessed to be understood ;)

Here it is, see for yourself!
Hallelujah!

Good one boys! Now off to the second best show in Germany… Stuttgart!

Leipzig (Where?), Germany!

Leipzig, Germany May 25th 2008
You know those places in the world that not only you never knew it existed, but you’d most probably never set foot in your life? Well, welcome to Leipzig, Germany! Right after Munich, we took off for our second Germany round! We got to the airport around eleven in the morning and ran to get the train straight to the stadium, I remember I complained about the waiting under the sun, and the brutal line ups and this and that, but I am sure gonna miss it for this tour!

When we got to the stadium we were a bit late already, there were many people in line and we still had to get our tickets, oh well, first line up here we go! As we stood waiting for our time I spotted Matt, who was giving away wristbands to some of the fan club people in line, he was doing that every show, just picking random people and taking them to the stage for couple songs, it was all very quiet tough, you couldn’t really tell, but I saw him doing that in Munich so I decided to try something…

I had my backstage member card with me and went to ask him for an autograph as he was giving away wristbands, I didn’t ask for wristbands, but as he was signing my card, he look at me and said “Here we go” and that’s how my friends, I got to go on stage that night! Thanks Matt!

We went in and got pretty good place, I think we were about third row center, the stadium was full and there was no space anywhere, everyone stood up even before the show started and apparently in Leipzig, you can smoke in crowded places where there’s no air to breathe! URGH…the leading up to the show was truly horrible!... By the time the show started we were all exhausted from breathing smoke and standing under the heat!

The setlist was far to be one of the best ones, Munich one kicked this one ass by a distance… but for me it was worth to experience Livin’on a Prayer on stage and the These Days live one more time in my life…! I’ll never forget that look and smile which you can see clicking down here!
